registered professional engineer in accordance with 40CFR, Part 112, as required by <br />Public Law 92-500, as amended by Public Law 95-217 and Public Law 95-576. <br />F. Contractor shall submit to Engineer a certified statement that the SPCC, if required, was <br />reviewed and certified by a registered professional engineer. <br />3.5 ABATEMENT OF AIR POLLUTION <br />A. Contractor shall comply with applicable federal and state laws and county ordinances and <br />regulations concerning the prevention and control of air pollution. <br />B. In conducting construction activities and operation of equipment, Contractor shall utilize <br />such practicable methods and devices as are reasonably available to control, prevent, and <br />otherwise minimize atmospheric emissions or discharges of air contaminants. <br />C. Contractor shall control dust at all areas of the Work in conformance with all applicable <br />permits and regulations. Contractor shall carry out proper and efficient measures <br />wherever and as often as necessary to reduce the dust nuisance, and to prevent dust from <br />damaging cultivated fields, dwelling, or causing a nuisance to persons. Dust control <br />measures shall include watering, application of environmentally safe tackifiers or <br />suppressants, or other measures. Emission of dust shall be minimized during handling <br />and storage of construction materials. Contractor shall be held liable for any damage <br />resulting from dust originating from his operations under these Specifications. <br />D. Equipment and vehicles that are found to have emission of exhaust gases or particulates <br />that exceed applicable limits established by federal, state, or local laws or authorities <br />shall not be operated until corrective repairs or adjustments are made. If required by <br />Engineer, Contractor shall provide acceptable evidence that equipment and vehicles have <br />been tested for exhaust emissions and have been found to be in compliance with <br />applicable limits. <br />3.6 EROSION CONTROL <br />A. Take such measures as are necessary to prevent erosion of soil that might result from <br />construction activities. <br />1. Measures in general will include: <br />a. Control of runoff. <br />b. Trapping of sediment. <br />c. Minimizing area and duration of soil exposure. <br />d. Best Management Practices shall be followed including temporary materials such as <br />hay bales, sand bags, plastic sheets, riprap or culverts to prevent the erosion of banks <br />and beds of watercourses or drainage swales where runoff will be increased due to <br />construction activities. <br />Environmental Controls February 2017 01550-3 <br />
