2016 Recommended Modifications to the West Elk Mine Hydrologic Monitoring Network 13
Figure 8. Water Quality in Spring G-30
Note: Baseline pre -2000 data, adapted from WWE (2001). There are no baseline field pH data.
There are no lab data for TDS, TSS, dissolved iron, or total iron because there was not enough water to collect samples.
Not Detected (ND) values graphed as zero.
2.1.1.5 Spring G-31 (Decreed Spring #23)
Spring G-31 is located in Gribble Gulch above Panels 8 and 9 in the Northwest B -Seam historic
mine area (Map 1). This spring issues from alluvium and flows into a small pond. It is seasonal
and flow usually occurs during wet spring conditions. The pond is typically dry in summer and
autumn. Spring G-31 has been monitored since 1977 and was undermined in February through
May 1995. The spring flow measurements were highly variable from 1977 to 1998. Flows were
very low to dry from October 1998 through October 2007, and from August 2011 to the present.
A time -series flow graph for Spring G-31 is shown on Figure 9.
August 2016 HydroGeo, Inc.
Spring G30
Spring G-30
1.200
---
90
E
1,000
85
_ gOp
c 80
c600
75
U
=
a
u
7 0
400n7
u
u
Ly
0
W
65
na 200
0
LL
60
Date
tEC
Date
—Basehne Max (lab) —Baseline Min (lab) -a—pH
Note: Baseline pre -2000 data, adapted from WWE (2001).
