Related surface operations which include coal refuse disposal, coal preparation, storage,
and loading and haulage involve the use of crushing, screening, gravity separation
equipment, tracked dozers, wheel loaders, rear dump and tractor -trailer trucks, motor
graders, and water trucks.
Because coal production is so closely related to the nature of occurrence and location of
coal reserves, mine plans are governed by existing geologic conditions and operating
experience. In order to effectively quantify and address some of the physical constraints
inherent in the Southfield coal reserves EFCI maintains an ongoing exploration program
and also closely monitors operating conditions in the mine. All available geologic
information as well as information on practical operating constraints are combined in the
mine planning process to develop a practical organized plan for sequential recovery of
available coal reserves.
Since purchasing the mine in 1985, EFCI has expanded both short and long range mine
planning efforts in order to provide for orderly mine development and identify potential
problems on a more timely basis. Mine plans presented in this permit revision application
are the result of development, review, and analyses of a number of mine plan
alternatives.
2.05.3 - I
TR47 Revised 11/17/2016
