Reclamation Plan
Introduction
This section describes the post -mining plan for reclaiming the New Horizon North (NHN) Mine.
Section 2.05.4(2)(a) Reclamation Time Table
Table 2.05.4(2)(a)-1 presents the reclamation time table. Mined out areas will be reclaimed on a
contemporaneous basis. As the mine progresses and adequate working areas are available for the
movement of mining equipment, the mined out areas will be first backfilled with the overburden
material and graded to designed post -mining contours. Details of this operation are given in
Section 2.05.4(2)(c). Once backfilling and grading are completed the area will be topsoiled as
discussed in Section 2.05.4(2)(d) and revegetated as discussed in Section 2.05.4(2)(e). The
reclamation of the final mine pit and the mine facilities will take place once the permitted area is
completely mined out and no recoverable reserve is left. In the current mine plan, these activities
are expected to occur in 2020-2021. The sediment ponds and associated ditches will be
reclaimed, unless requested by land owners that they be left in place, after the entire watershed
for a particular sediment pond achieves Phase II bond release.
Section 2.05.4(2)(b) Performance Bond for Mine Reclamation
Please see Section 3.02.2 for the current bond liability.
Section 2.05.4(2)(c) Backfilling and Grading
Please see a separate section devoted to this topic.
Section 2.05.4(2)(d) Topsoil Redistribution
Please see a separate section devoted to this topic
Section 2.05.4(2)(e) Revegetation
Please see a separate section devoted to this topic
Section 2.05.4(2)(f) Disposal of Debris and Materials Constituting Fire Hazards
All debris will be transported to the county landfill for disposal. Acid forming materials, toxic
materials or materials constituting fire hazard will be treated, buried compacted or disposed of in
a manner approved by DRMS.
Section 2.05.4(2)(f) Air Pollution Control and Water Discharge Permits
NHN will secure air pollution control and water discharge permits from Colorado Department of
Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) as required under the Clean Air Act and Clean Water
Act. This topic is discussed further in Section 2.05.6 Mitigation of the Impacts of the Mining
Operations. A copy of the air pollution control permit is included in Appendix 2.05.6(1)-l.
