The inspection was <br />conducted by Clayton Wein (DRMS) accompanied by Jim Stark (DRMS), Tamme Bishop (J.E.Stover & <br />Associates) and Bill Bear (Bowie Resources, LLC). The weather was cloudy with a temperature of 40 degrees <br />farenheight. The ground conditions were wet and snow covered. The Bowie No. 2 Mine is currently in temporary <br />cesation, no coal is being actively produced. No reclamation activities were being conducted at the time of the <br />inspection. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br />Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; <br />Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; <br />Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br /> Ponds B, C, D, F, J and K were inspected. All of the ponds were covered with snow and the water <br />impounded in them was frozen. There were no indications of instability or erosion on the embankments of the <br />ponds. There was no discharge from any of the ponds. <br /> <br />All of the ditches at the site were in good condition and functioning as designed. The ditch along the haul road <br />just below the Preparation Plant was being cleaned out at the time of the inspection. <br /> <br />During the inspection of Gob Pile #2, there was water ponded on the top of the pile. The pile is designed to allow <br />this water to drain from the top of the pile and be routed to the sediment ponds. Please continue to maintain the <br />design of the pile to drain the water from the gob pile. <br /> <br /> <br />PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES – Rule 4.10 and 4.11 <br />Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization; Placement: <br /> Gob Piles #1, #2, #3 and #4 were inspected. Gob Pile #1 is inactive. The pile was partially covered in <br />snow and there were no indications of instability. Refuse was being placed on Gob Pile #3 during the inspection.
