b. In the event there is a conflict,the CONTRACTOR shall notify the <br /> ENGINEER, OWNER'S representative, and affected utility <br /> company. <br /> C. In the event there is a conflict,the proposed work may be modified, <br /> only after a proposed solution is presented and accepted by the <br /> Water and Sewer Director. <br /> 4. Maintain, protect and support by shoring, bracing or other means existing <br /> utilities, appurtenances and structures. <br /> 5. Take such protective measures as the utilities may direct where protection, <br /> alternations or moving of the utilities is required. <br /> E. Weather <br /> 1. Do not place pipe bedding or pipe on frozen soil in the trench bottom. <br /> 2. Do not place frozen materials,snow or ice in backfill,fill or embankments. <br /> 3. Do not deposit, tamp, roll or otherwise mechanically compact backfill in <br /> water. <br /> 1.04 Maintenance and Correction <br /> A. The CONTRACTOR, or owner, shall be responsible for maintaining and repair of all <br /> trench settlement which occurs within the two-year warranty period, and make <br /> necessary repairs to pavement, sidewalks,or other structures which may be damaged as <br /> a result of trench settlement. <br /> PART 2 MATERIALS <br /> 2.01 GENERAL <br /> A. All material shall be free from frozen matter, stumps, roots, brush, other organic <br /> matter,cinders or other corrosive material,debris,broken asphalt and concrete,and any <br /> other material that is not suitable in the opinion of the City. <br /> B. If job excavated material is not sufficient or suitable, suitable material shall be <br /> imported. All imported material shall have a liquid limit not greater than 30 and a <br /> plasticity index not greater than 6. <br /> 2.02 STABILIZATION MATERIAL <br /> A. Top six-inches (6") of pipe subgrade - If the existing soil in the trench bottom is <br /> judged to be unsuitable by the OWNER'S representativeand/or the ENGINEER,the top <br /> sic-inches(6")of the pipe subgrade shall be removed at a minimum and replaced with a <br /> stabilization material.
