Especially the pond situated farthest to the east on <br /> the site appears to be a very desirable location for waterfowl not only <br /> because it is more isolated and remote from intruders, and noise but <br /> also there are islands in the pond, some smaller and some larger, that <br /> offer safety for nesting and resting. <br /> b. Vegetation: Because the site is being reclaimed after mining <br /> operations, the availability of water is critical to successful re- <br /> vegetation of the site. Proper, robust re-vegetation will prevent the <br /> spread of noxious and invasive weed species. Establishing and <br /> maintaining the correct re-vegetation of the site to include site <br /> appropriate shrubs, bushes and trees will enhance the habitat for <br /> wildlife species, and will enhance the attractiveness of the site for <br /> human enjoyment. <br /> C. Water Resources: There are three large ponds on the site with an <br /> average depth greater than 32 feet and a surface area slightly greater <br /> than 30 acres.The use of CPW water for augmentation will enable the <br /> City and CPW to maintain those ponds in their current state,providing <br /> attractive wildlife habitat and a variety of human recreation <br /> opportunities including boating, fishing,birding and wildlife watching <br /> activities not available anywhere else in the vicinity. <br /> d. Air Quality: NA <br /> e. Public Use Facilities, Development of the site as preliminarily planned <br /> by the City of Lamar and CPW includes various public use facilities <br /> such as shade structures/picnic shelters, restrooms, walking trails, <br /> boat launching areas, a floating fishing dock, parking and etc. Water is <br /> the critical piece that makes it all possible. Without the requested <br /> water available for replacement/augmentation on the site, none of the <br /> rest of the plan is possible. <br /> f. Roads and/or Other Capital Structures: A preliminary site <br /> development plan has been developed in cooperation with CPW and <br /> includes roads for motor-vehicle access, motor-vehicle parking areas, <br /> trails,etc. <br /> 6. Compensation or remuneration proposed (if this is a commercial use, a <br /> minimum fee of Silo of the gross income generated by the activity shall be <br /> paid to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, but in no event shall any fee for <br /> commercial use be less than $100): <br /> It has been the intention of the City of Lamar and Colorado Parks &Wildlife <br /> to develop a partnership for development, maintenance and management of <br /> the site for the benefit of citizens, visitors and guests at the site.
