Cultural Resource Site Assessments for Collom Expansion Project Colowyo
NRHP Status and Condition Assessment
In 2005 TRC recommended site 5MF.6128 as eligible for listing on the NRHP under Criterion A.
The site is associated with the historic event of a large historic -era settlement influx into
northwestern Colorado. The homestead owner, Edwin Collom, was one of the earliest settlers in
the area and argued to be of regional historical significance. BLM and OHAP concurred and
determined the site as eligible. Tetra Tech concurs with the determination. The overall condition
of the site is unchanged since 2005. Livestock grazing has significantly impacted the artifact
scatter near Feature 1; however, the impacts have not affected the characteristics that make the
site eligible for inclusion on the NRNP.
