2.0 BACKGROUND INFORMATION
2.1 Well Construction Summary
Groundwater monitoring data are not available for all monitoring locations prior to January 31,
1994. To provide a summary of the range of available data, Table 2-1, below, presents a
summary of well construction information, including the date of construction of each well within
the existing groundwater monitoring network.

Of the established POC monitoring wells, only wells ARwell in the Arkansas River Watershed,
and GW#2 in the Tenmile Creek Watershed, were in existence in January 1994. Although not a
POC location, monitoring well EVMW, in the Eagle River Watershed, was constructed in late
1993. In 2011, Climax constructed a shallow(alluvial)and deep(bedrock)well pair approximately
20 feet upgradient of EVMW. The POC wells in the Eagle River Watershed were more recently
constructed in 2011 or 2012, and the additional deep bedrock POC wells in the Arkansas River
and Tenmile Creek Watersheds were constructed in 2012.
2.2 Water Quality Data
A statistical data summary for POC wells, based on the methodology in Section 5.1 of the WQMP
(mean concentration plus two standard deviations), are in Appendix A. Appendix B provides a
complete listing of data, organized by watershed, for all monitoring wells identified in the WQMP.
