900 feet from the closest anticipated blasting areas and should be clear of any
damaging f/yrock that would result from a properly designed and implemented
blasting plan.
4. Please commit to conducting a pre-blast survey of all permanent man-made
structures which have the potential to be impacted by blasting operations.
Response:
The blasting specifications will require pre-blast condition surveys of all permanent
man-made structures which have the potential to be impacted by blasting
operations. An abandoned single-family residence located just across South St.
Wain Creek is believed to be the only man-made structure within half a mile of the
quarry. The structure was heavily impacted by the 2013 flood and it is our
understanding that the structure is currently uninhabitable.
5. Please provide the Division with the proposed maximum peak particle velocities
in inches/second based on the distance from the blast site to all structures within
one mile of the blast location.
Response:
The blasting specifications will limit the maximum peak particle velocity to 1.0 inch
per second at the permit boundary and at all permanent structures within one mile
of the blast location.
6. Please commit to recording the peak particle velocities in three mutually
perpendicular directions from the blasting site. The maximum peak particle velocity
shall be the largest of any of the three measurements.
Response:
The blasting specifications will require blast monitoring equipment to be 4-channel
units capable of measuring overpressure and vertical, longitudinal and transverse
directions of ground vibration velocities. Peak Particle Velocity will be defined as
the maximum of the three measured ground vibration velocities.
7. Please describe how the air overpressure (air blast) and noise will be measured.
In addition, provide the Division with the lower frequency limit of the planned
measuring system in Hertz (Hz) and the maximum level in decibels (dB) for each
frequency limit.
3
hdrinc.com
1670 Broadway, Suite 3400,Denver,CO 80202-4824
(303)764-1520
