Exhibit E
Geisert Pit Site Reclamation Plan
Post-mining Land Use: The post-mining land use will be varied depending on the specific
area of the pit. The land included in this permit is owned by Weld County, and the pre-mining
land use was rangeland. The permit area is surrounded by mining sites, recreation sites,
commercial/industrial sites, and County owned facilities.
Area A is unmined. It is used by Weld County Public Works as a parking and storage area,
a salt/sand storage area, a fueling depot, a training course for road graders, and a future
natural gas fueling facility. All access roads and walking paths will remain after reclamation
so Weld County employees can use them as part of the County's Wellness Plan. All gates
and fences will remain after reclamation to help delineate the areas which are open to the
County's employees. This area was shown on the Reclamation Plan Map for TR-3 which
was approved by the DRMS on August 10, 2011.
Area B is a mitigated wetland area. The wetland area serves as a wildlife habitat for birds
and small mammals. It is covered by Department of the Army Permit No. 199980251 (a copy
is attached). The County also has a water court approved augmentation plan to cover the
evaporation from the area. The water court augmentation plan case number is 12CW304.
This area was shown on the Reclamation Plan Map for TR-3 which was approved by the
DRMS on August 10, 2011.
Area C is the area in which the slurry wall approved under TR-3 was installed. A slurry wall
encircles both the east and west cells. The Colorado Department of Water Resources
certified the slurry wall in 2012 and the required documentation was submitted in September
of 2012. In addition to the dust control well and pump stations shown on the TR-3
Reclamation Map, all roads, fences, and walking paths in this area will remain for use by Weld
County employees as part of the County's wellness program.
Additional water storage facilities such as an alternate discharge point along the south edge
of the west pit, a riprap rundown in the northwest corner of the west pit, an interconnect
between the west and east pits, a new pump station and discharge pipe to the river in the
southwest corner of the east pit, a ramp along the west end of the east pit, and discharge
pipes from the north side of the east pit into Area B will remain.
An access road around the two pits will be left in place to allow access to various areas of the
storage ponds will be remain. A 16-inch City of Greeley water line also runs between the two
pits. An access road between the two pits will also be left so the City of Greeley will have
access to maintain the water line.
Area D was not shown on the TR-3 Reclamation Map as it was part of Area C at the time.
Since mining has been completed, Weld County has determined the area shown on the
Exhibit F Reclamation Map is needed for future storage and stockpiling of construction
materials. As such, the area will not be reclaimed or reseeded. All existing fences and dirt
berms will remain in place to delineate the storage and stockpiling area. Area C also contains
a drainage ditch/slough that conveys overflow water from Areas B and E. This drainage ditch
will remain.
