October 26, 2016 C-1982-057/Seneca II-W Mine JHB

Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2

Page 3 of 11

A small flock of Sandhill Crane were noted migrating over the north extent of the property.

Two fish (trout) could be discerned in Pond 016.

HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
Stock tank . T-24 was heavily grazed and was dry. It appears that the vegetation should be able to recover
from the heavy grazing pressure.

Sediment Pond 005 was holding water but water elevation was approximately 2 feet below the discharge
elevation. This area had been heavily grazed. Animals had trampled around the flume. SPL needs to check the
flume to assure it remains level, clean the mud out of the flume, and assure that side cutting of the flume will not
occur.

Stock tank T-22, had water flowing through it. This stock tank appears to be in good repair, and has cattails
growing in it that help act as a filter.

Stock tank T-20 was dry. The spring west of T-20 was flowing.

Stock tank T-18 water level was very low. No flow was discharging from T-18. Cattle have trampled the edges of
T-18. This trampled area should be below the water line after spring snowmelt and does not affect the function of
the stock tank. (Photo)

Pond 009 was viewed from the ridge west of the pond due to the hunting camp at the entrance. The water level
was very low, at least a foot or more below the discharge riser.

Pond 006 was discharging clear effluent, measuring <0.1 on the staff gauge on the flume. Pond 006 needs
vegetation cleaned out of the flume prior to winter. Bottom of the staff gauge is crusted. Lower flow rates are
estimated due to dirty staff gauge.

Pond 016 was flowing. Bentonite sealing of pond 016 flume appears to be holding up well.

PM-2 and PM-3 drainages are dry and in good repair. Spoil spring is flowing. No problems were noted.

Pond 017 flume is level and in good condition. Pond 017 was discharging clear effluent, measuring approx, 0.05
on the staff gauge on the flume. No problems were identified at Pond 017.

Pond 015 was inspected. The flume has been reset, leveled and sealed with bentonite. Branches have been
cleared from the trash rack at the riser. Pond 015 was discharging clear water, measuring 0,08 on the staff gauge
on the flume. Some soil has settled in the flume and needs to be cleared out.
