1
October 17, 2016
RECEIVED
Division Of Reclamation Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 L--OCT 2 8 2016
Denver, CO 80203
Attn: Elliott Russell OF
iUNGAND SAFETY
RE: Permit M2016009
Fremont Paving & Redi-Mix, Inc.
Dear Mr. Russell,
1 am writing to you today on behalf of myself, my family, my neighbors and community.
We just found out that Fremont Paving & Redi-Mix, Inc. is trying AGAIN to propose a"DIRT"
throughway road down our property lines as well as my neighbors. This was proposed last year
and was not awarded through the County of Pueblo and now we find out that they are proposing
this again now through the State of Colorado. There are already three (3) available roads and we
do not need another one. There is currently Business Highway 50, South Road and Fields Road.
Fremont Paving & Redi-Mix, Inc. is currently using Business Highway 50 and there is no reason
that they should not continue using that road. See attached map.
There are many reasons why this new Proposed road should not be granted, here are
some of them.......
1. Excessive traffic and noise. They are proposing a minimum of 125 trucks a day each
direction. That totals up to a minimum of 250 passes per day. Open from 6 am to 8
pm daily.
2. The dirt and rocks that will stir up from each passing truck, approximately every 15
minutes. We will not be able to sit on our front or back porch, be in our yards, my
kids & grandkids playing in the yard, use our hot tub or swimming pool, excessive
dirt and grime on our windows, doors and houses due to the dirt and rocks.
3. Being woken up at an early hour or trying to enjoy our time of relaxation while
having supper after a long day of work.
4. They will have to build up this road which will cause drainage problems on our
properties as well as my neighbors and cause flooding and trucks washing out and
going off the road and creating damages to our property and possibly the power lines
that this road will run along. If the power lines are hit and damaged or are knocked
down, they could fall on our buildings and homes and cause damage or death.
5. Big tractor trucks get"heated tires", "blow outs"and"sparks from exhausts" and
these cause fires. It only takes one (1)time to start a fire and lose everything. We do
not need"Prairie Fires" with all the dry grass which would get out of control very
quickly and we all could lose our property and lives of both humans and animals. We
have a lot of children and elderly living out on the prairie and they might not get out
quickly enough in an emergency and perish. Also were are talking a lot of money in
damages.
6. We have five(5)parcels, a total of 200 acres. This proposed road will run along our
200 acres. We have spent several hundred thousand dollars building our dream home.
We ourselves have a lot at stake and a lot to lose. Our neighbors as well.
