This mining lease
will put operations directly in the path of these birds. The International Migratory Bird Treaty Act protects migrating birds.
Threatened species, like Burrowing Owl, are found in this area. Osprey and Golden Eagle are visitors.
Human disturbance- noise, truck exhaust, blowing dirt, trafiic (200 trucks, 100+ loads/day)-will most certainly disturb
these birds, not to mention private landowners.
Quiet, isolated areas feed the human spirit, an intangible that cannot be dismissed. Therefore, AVAS urges that the
mining lease permit be denied.
Dr. Peg Rooney, President
AVAS
https://mail.google.com/mai I/u/0/?ui=2&ik=96bdl ddfe5&view=pt&search=inbox&m sg=l57e7cf8529e8641&sim l=157e7cf8529e8641 1/1
