<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />GCC Energy, LLC <br />6473 County Road 120 <br />Hesperus, CO 81326 <br /> <br />Telephone: 970.385.4528 <br />Facsimile: 970.385.4638 “Safety as a Value” <br />October 20, 2016 <br /> <br />State of Colorado <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety <br />1313 Sherman St., Room 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br /> <br />Attn: Rob Zuber, Environmental Protection Specialist II <br /> <br />Re: GCC Energy, LLC <br /> King II Mine <br /> CDRMS Permit # C-81-035 <br />Technical Revision #26 – Adequacy Review #2 Response <br /> <br />Dear Ms. Reilley: <br /> <br />This submittal is GCC Energy’s (GCCE) response to your letter of August 31, 2016, “TR-26 <br />Adequacy Review #2”. <br /> <br />Technical Revision 26 (TR-26) proposes to add surface, alluvial and ground water <br />monitoring wells on lands owned by State of Colorado Lease CO-3388, Bureau of Land <br />Management, and private land owners. <br /> <br />This program involves completion of 4 clusters of 3 wells each, numbered MW-1 thru MW- <br />4, designed as shown in Appendix 4(5) and also one alluvial monitoring well located <br />upgradient from the King I mine designed as shown in Appendix 4(13). <br /> <br />Each cluster will consist of one hole drilled in the Menefee formation to just above the “A” <br />coal seam, one will be drilled into the “A” coal seam, and one drilled to below the “A” seam <br />to a depth just above the “B” coal seam. <br /> <br />In addition to the monitoring wells listed above, GCC Energy proposes to establish a new <br />surface water sampling location in the Hay Gulch Ditch, upstream from the King I mine <br />surface facilities near the confluence of Hay Gulch and Roberts Canyon. <br /> <br />
