The revision was called complete on 13 October
2016.
The Technical Revision 166 submittal included revised pages, maps, and an illustration related to the
proposed B -Seam Dewatering System #2. A SEDCAD analysis was provided for a 10 year / 24 hour event
and a 100 year / 24 hour event.
The Division has reviewed the TR -70 submittal and has the following adequacy questions:
Rule 2.05.6(6) - Subsidence Survey, Subsidence Monitoring, and Subsidence Control Plan
Potential Subsidence effects on the B -Seam Dewatering System #2
1. On Map 147 part of the dewatering system overlies portions of the LW-B16A/B16B panel. Please
clarify if the LW-B16A/B16B panel will subside the dewatering system. If the panel is
predicted to subside the dewatering system, is there a plan for monitoring the stability of
the structure?
Rule 4.05.9 Impoundments
B -Seam Dewatering System #2
The Design for the riprap channels on Map 160 states the riprap in the channels is approximately
1.5 times as thick as the width of the d50. The CDOT Drainage Design Manual recommends that
the thickness of a riprap layer should be 2 times that of the d50 (p. 17-24, Chapter 17 of the
CDOT Drainage Design Manual). Please explain the reasoning for the thickness of the riprap in
the channels of the B -Seam Dewatering System #2.
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http://mining.state.co.us
John W.
