There was not a company representative present for the <br />ispections due to the site being inactive. The weather was cloudy with a temperatur of 65 degrees Farenheight. <br />The ground conditions were mostly dry with a few areas that were damp from precipitation events prior to the <br />inspection. The Permit Area for the North Thompson Creek Mies has been mostly Phase III Released, the <br />remaining 4.1 acres of the permit include areas to support the post mining land use. <br />AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS – Rule 5.02.4(1): <br /> The records for the North Thompson Creek Mines are kept at the County Courthouse in Glenwood <br />Springs. The records are in good condition. There are Items in the records that need to be updated. Please <br />see the Availability of Records form at the end of this report for more details. <br />The Insurance Certificate in the permit has expired, please update the records with the current certificate. <br />Other information on the Availability of Records form in bold font are items that need to be updated. <br /> <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br />Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; <br />Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; <br />Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br /> The ponds remaining at the North Thompson mine site are a part of the passive treatment system for the <br />water discharging from the mine portals. <br /> <br />The water is piped across North Thompson creek from the No. 1 portal and along the county road from the No. 3 <br />portal. Both pipes divert the water to the Long Pond. The Long Pond has cattails to help reduce the amount of <br />suspended solids and iron in the water. The water entering the Long Pond from the No. 1 pipe was discharging at <br />an approximate rate of 10 to 12 gallons per minute. The No. 3 pipe was discharging at about 5 to 7 gallons per <br />minute (Photo 1). The embankments of the Long Pond were well vegetated and stable. There were no indications
