Tnaeeea Miroina iac.
September 8, 2016 VtV -W ED
Ms. Tabetha N. Lynch 2016
Environmental Protection Specialist SU I
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety eclamatijon,
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
VIVI n 9 &safety
Dear Ms. Lynch:
RE: Suspension the Semi-annual Geotechnical Monitoring Report
Trapper Mining Inc. (TMI) began submitting semi-annual monitoring reports to the Division, beginning March
2008 with the last report completed on March 24, 2016. TMI has been monitoring the 2006 landslide area for
movement through the use of a continuous monitoring system.
TMI submitted a Technical Revision 115 (TR -115) requesting to remove the slope monitoring requirements and
the subsequent reporting from the TMI permit. This revision was approved August 16, 2016.
In preparation for the removal of the monitoring and reporting from TMI's permit, a revised ground control plan
submitted to MSHA on January 25, 2016 explained that TMI has mined through the landslide area and there is
no more material from the landslide to monitor. The revised Ground Control Plan currently on file with MSHA
states:
"Historic Landslide:
A major landslide occurred in the east panel on October 8, 2006. The slide encompassed
approximately 250 acres, bounded on the east by Gatling Pit cut Gd02 (which is now called L -Pit) as
depicted on Ground Control Plan Map 1. This area has been fully developed and mining operations
completed, and is currently being backfilled and graded. Therefore landslide monitoring of the area is
no longer being conducted. However, spoil stability and pit endwalls will continue to be observed until
backfill operations are complete."
A copy of the acceptance/filed letter from MSHA is enclosed. The filing of this plan allowed for the removal of
the required monitoring plan.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Tonia Perkins, P. E.
Senior Mining Engineer
P.O. Box 187 Craig, Colorado 81626 (970) 824-4401
