rangeland seed mix per the reclamation plan developed for the site. Hydromulching techniques
were employed due to the steep slopes involved at the construction site. Also, several topsoil piles
established in 1995 adjacent to the coal refuse pile as shown, SF-8, SF-12, SF-13, and SF-14, were
seeded May 1996 with the approved seed mixture.
The two barricade chamber drill pads developed over the 9-Right and 10-Right gateroad entries in
1995 were reseeded in November 1996 due to poor vegetation establishment at the sites. At the
10-Right borehole, the standpipe was removed and the borehole was sealed. Reclamation at this
site is complete. The 9-Right stand pipe and borehole will remain until the facility is no longer
needed. At that time, the hole will be permanently sealed per the approved plan and the site finally
graded and seeded. As previously noted, the disturbance associated with these sites comprises less
than 0.5 acres. The sites were seeded with the approved pastureland seed mix following the initial
regrading work completed in 1995 and were reseeded with the same mix in November 1996.
A drill pad and monitor well installation for the replacement of well FCM#2 (95M001) was
completed during 1995. Disturbance at this site comprised less than 0.2 acres. The site was
regraded and retopsoiled during the fall of 1996 and seeded in November 1996 with the approved
pastureland seed mixture.
Partial regrading and retopsoiling of the eastern mining district ventilation shaft site was
accomplished in 1996. The western half of the site which formerly contained the mud pits utilized
in drilling the shafts, was regraded, topsoiled, and seeded with the approved pastureland seed mix
in November 1996. The remaining reclamation work at the site will not commence until the
constructed facilities are no longer needed in support of the mining operation.
Approximately 7 acres of additional disturbance associated with a newly constructed outlying
facility is reported for 1996. The mine water return line originating at the eastern mining district
dewatering well site and traversing to the borehole located at the sandstone substation was
reclaimed and seeded in November 1996 following the waterline installation. This site utilized
the approved pastureland seed mix.
One final outlying parcel was reclaimed during 1996. The drill pad and facility site for the
southwest ventilation borehole located generally west of the TCC facilities in Section 36 was
regraded, retopsoiled and seeded in November 1996. Weather conditions precluded seeding on
the road leading into the site although regrading and topsoiling activities were competed. Seeding
operations will be completed at the first available opportunity in 1997, prior to the initiation of the
growing season.
Several areas were disturbed prior to 1996 and remain Twentymile Coal Company's responsibility.
These locations are included in Table 1 and shown on the 1996 Annual Reclamation Report maps.
These locations include the Sandstone Substation, Fish Creek Tipple, Fish Creek Borehole, TCC
Surface Facilities, Coal Refuse Pile, Southwest Borehole, Drill Pad 95M001, EMD Vent Shaft,
Escape Shaft, Rock Dust Tank, 9 Rt and 10 Rt Barricade Chambers, and the Rockfall Mitigation
Trench and Berm Structures.
