and buildinq materials.
8) Fuel tanks, which may be used to support both mining and non-mining activities, will
be above-ground stationary (AST) and portable (trailer/truck mounted) located either
within the affected land boundary or outside (vicinity of the scale). Reg-ardless of
location, any tanks will have secondary containment adequate in both capacity and
quality to protect the environment from spills and releases.
9) Although unlikely due to size of the site and access limits, there is potential for
processing facilities to be located on or near the permit area for further processing
and use of the construction materials as well as recyclable materials brought to the
site (e.g. ready-mixed concrete and hot-mix asphalt facilities). Such facilities will have
all necessary state and local permits and comply with conditions necessary to protect
the environment and public health and safety. Various chemicals would be
temporarily stored and used on-site, to include but not limited to, asphalt cement (ACC
oil Portland cement lime admixtures colorant Diesel fuel lubricants and oils
propane, hydraulic fluids, antifreeze, soap, hydrocloric (muriatic) acid, and scrubber
water.
10)Vehicle and equipment maintenance may be performed on-site, for gensets (diesel or
propane powered), screens, crushers, conveyors, mobile equipment (loaders, graders,
excavators, dozers, haul trucks, etc.). Various chemicals may be present as needed
for such maintenance. Maintenance is expected to be relatively low-level in nature
(operator/Level 1 and 2), and as needed, with more complex work done off-site. In
addition, various kinds of construction material processing equipment may be stored
on-site or immediately off-site (on the Helmericks property), with this site serving as a
"home-base" (per CDPHE and other air quality permitting agency regulations). The
Operator understands that any equipment used to do the original processing of
construction materials extracted from the permit area must be located in the permit
area when performing that processing, but may further process both materials from
on-site and process materials brought to this location from other sites on their property
outside the permit boundaries.
1 1) Enclosure 1 is a five-page report by an independent engineer breaking out the mining
technique now being used, in lots around the east and south perimeter of the permit
area, to meet MSHA and general engineering and safety requirements.'
12) Maps and cross-sections are provided in Exhibit E with all other maps.
13)See also information and recommendations in Geotechnical Stablity Exhibit.
Enclosures (All new to this revision):
1. Debi Michaels Report "Highwall design for Helmericks Pit"
See Maps in Exhibit E.
1 This report is also referenced/part of the Geotechnical Stability Exhibit.
Technical Revision to M1985-001 J&J Pit, LaPlata County, dated 24 AUG 2016 Page 4
