rr:1vP
August 15, 2016 4,--AUG 18 2016
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
MINING AND SAFETY
Division of Reclamation, Mining&Safety
1313 Sherman St.,Suite 215
Denver,Colorado 80203
Weld County Clerk to the Board
Board of County Commissioners
915 Tenth St.
Greeley, CO 80631
L. G. Everist ( _
7321 E. 88th Avenue,Suite 200
Henderson, CO 80640
To Whom It May Concern:
Per the enclosed copy of a letter dated July 8,2016 from L.G. Everist,we are presenting our comments_
regarding the proposed amendment permit application to the current gravel mining operation location at
6254 Weld County Rd. 26.
We live directly south of the current mining operation. In fact,we owned the current property L.G. Everist
mines and they negotiated the contract to mine the property with us with mining beginning in 2001. At that
time, the plan was to be done with the project by approximately 2006. Because of the economy, that did not
happen and in 2013 we sold that acreage to L.G. Everist retaining the acreage our home is on.
Although the attached letter indicates we cannot express concerns to the state regarding basic issues,we do
wish to express our concerns regarding the fact that L.G. Everist does not do basic weed control and does not
water the roads, among other things. Our biggest concern should this amendment be approved is the time
frame. The letter indicates the end date for the mining operation to be 2036. As a part of the sale of our 60
acres to L. G. Everist,we granted them a temporary easement on our driveway which is scheduled to
terminate once the pit has been finalized and sealed (they will maintain 2 utility easements across the
driveway). We do not want to have to wait now until 2036 for that to happen. We want the east side of the
current pit sealed and the necessary work to finalize that side of the pit completed prior to a new pit going in
on the west side.
We are more than happy to speak with you at any time, please don't hesitate to contact either Ted at 970-
396-7499 or Linda at 303-517-1063.
Sincerely,
/ Ted and Linda Lohmann
V 6474 Weld County Rd. 26
Longmont, CO 80504
Enclosure
