EXHIBIT C
Rule 6.3.3
Mining Plan
(a) Commencement and Duration of Gravel Pit Operation:
The quarry operation will commence in approximately August 2016. Due to the limited access to
the operation site during the months when snow is on the ground, this operation is intended to be
an intermittent operation and used for less than one hundred and eighty days per year pursuant to
the provisions of C.R.S. § 34-32.5-103(11)(b). The operation will last approximately 30 years,
ending in August 2046.
(b) Topsoil replacement depth:
As practicable, 12 inches of topsoil will be removed and stored on site as shown in the attached
Mining Plan Map and replaced during reclamation. Removed topsoil not replaced within a time
short enough to avoid deterioration will be reseeded as necessary to protect from erosion. Any
necessary reseeding will utilize the seed mix and application methods described in the
Reclamation Plan. Where practicable, woody vegetation present at the site shall be removed
from or appropriately incorporated into the existing topsoil prior to excavation within the
affected areas. Topsoil stockpiles will be stored in places and configurations to minimize erosion
and located in areas where disturbance by ongoing mining operations will be minimized. Once
stockpiled, the topsoil shall be rehandled as little as possible until replacement on the regraded,
disturbed area.
(c) Thickness of overburden:
Overburden thickness varies. As applicable, overburden will be excavated to reach the deposit,
which is largely exposed. Any overburden that is removed will be placed in a storage pile on site
as shown on the attached Mining Plan Map and replaced during reclamation. The overburden
will be stored in places and configurations to prevent erosion.
(d) Thickness of deposit to be mined:
Because the material is exposed on the surface and piled on top of itself, the thickness of the
deposit varies widely. The thickness varies from approximately 3' to 100'. The current nature of
the material can be seen in the Site Images attached hereto.
(e) Major Components of Mining Operations:
The gravel material will be excavated using backhoes, trackhoes or loaders and placed directly
into dump trucks for transportation.
The area of material excavation and the haul/access road through the area of material extraction
are the only components of the mining operation. Some material may be stockpiled or stored on
Van Valkenburg Cattle Co., LLC
Construction Materials Limited Impact(110) Operation Reclamation Permit Application Form
Page 1 of 5
