Box 3729
Englewood, CO 80155
RE: Notice of Intent to Conduct Prospecting Application; London Mine; File No.
P-2016-020; Notice of Deficiencies
Dear Mr. Harrington,
On August 8, 2016, the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) received the
Notice of Intent (NOI) to Conduct Prospecting Application for the London Mine, File No. P-
2016-020. The Application was filed for review on August 8, 2016. Our review indicates the
NOI application contains deficiencies as defined by Rule 5.1.3 of the Mineral Rules and
Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Hard Rock, Metal, and
Designated Mining Operations. The Division requires the information described below before we
can approve the NOI application.
1. The Applicant has proposed to disturb 0.5 acres for the prospecting operation. The
disturbance associated with the drill pads and mud pits accounts for 0.25 acres. Please
account for the remaining 0.25 acres of disturbance.
2. The units were not included for the amount of material proposed to be moved. Please verify
the Operator intends to extract or move 5,700 cubic feet of material.
3. The Applicant has stated the drill holes may be used as monitoring wells. Please note that
prospecting drill holes may be converted to monitoring wells in accordance with the
requirements of Rule 5.4.4.
4. The Applicant is proposing to conduct prospecting on areas recently reclaimed by the
Division's Inactive Mine Program. The reclaimed area is described as old tailings covered
with mulch and seeded with Zone 5 seed mix. The Applicant has committed to reseeding the
site with the Zone 5 seed mix. However, the NOI Application did not address mulching
requirements. Please specify the type of mulch to be used, the rate and the application
method. The mulching specifications should match Inactive Mine Program's requirements.
oF'Cod \.
I op
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver,CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http://mining.state.co.us * ` y' *;
John W.
