RECEIVED
Martin Julie Mikulas
vo Marietta ,/AUG 0 8 2016 Land Manager
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
MINING AND SAFETY
July 25, 2016
Mr. Peter Hays
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Parsons Mine M-2009-082, Pit start up
Dear Mr. Hays:
Please accept this letter as our written notice that we intend to begin operations for the above
referenced permit and you should be receiving a bond rider shortly to increase the bond from the
posted $15, 300 to the $286,895 as described in the reclamation cost section of the original application
and attached to this letter. We understand that based on the approvals, this site will be reviewed
annually and the bond increased as necessary for the disturbance that occurs.
We have worked with Weld County and City of Greeley designing the road improvements for the access
into the site, turning lanes and relocation of the Whitney Ditch. All of those improvements were
completed last week. We have begun stripping topsoil and overburden off of Phase IA in anticipation of
moving in the plant pieces and laying out the internal roads. We have applied to Weld County for a
building permit for the scale and scale house and intend to have the plant operational in September or
October. Silt pond construction will also begin shortly since the silt pond located in Phase 1B is only
allowed to be mined from August 1st— November 15th and the silt pond located in Phase 1C is allowed to
be mined from August 151h —October 15th to accommodate the bald eagle's nest located south of those
cells.
Please give me a call if any additional information is needed (970) 227-4041 and we look forward to
showing you the site later this month.
Sincerely, /Julie Mikulas, Land Manager
Rocky Mountain Division—Northern Office
1800 N Taft Hill Road, Fort Collins, CO 80534
julie.mikulas@martinmarietta.com
www.martinmarietta.com
