July 19, 2016 C-1982-056/Foidel Creek Mine JLE

Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 0
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1

The former Fish Creek Tipple area was observed. Overall the area is revegetated and dense perennial
grass establishment was observed.
There is a culvert on the northwest side of the Fish Creek Tipple reclaimed area that appears to
have been partially crushed by equipment doing maintenance on the adjacent rail line. This
culvert will need to repaired or replaced.
TC has regraded the erosion rill observed above the Fish Creek Tipple pond, however the area is fairly steep and
erosion control waddles or matting may be needed as some small rills appear to have formed. TC has installed
erosion control matting on the northwest side of the Fish Creek Tipple reclaimed area where erosion was observed
during previous Division inspections.

TC has constructed the 9 East Start Room Utility Borehole pad and access road. It appears TC chose the second
option for the placement of the pad. Topsoil has been removed and stockpiled in two piles on the west side of the
access road and one pile on the west side of the borehole pad. The topsoil piles have been shaped into a stable
configuration. TC had a contractor on site conducting several site maintenance tasks. One of the tasks was
installing and repairing topsoil stockpile markers throughout the site. According to the contractor on site they
were going to install markers on the piles at this location. Straw waddles were installed on the west side of the
topsoil stockpile adjacent to the 9 East drill pad. TC was in the process of drilling the first of the two holes at the
time of the inspection. The mud pit was installed on the east side of the pad. The run-off diversion ditches on the
south, west and north side of the pad had been installed and the required rock check dams were in place. TC was
installing the powerline to the 9 East Utility Borehole at the time of the inspection.

Figure 6. 9 East Start room Utility Borehole Drilling Operations
