Photo 23 shows some baby barn swallows still in the nest. The barn swallows built there nest
in a hole in the cinder block of the open MCC structure on the Test Mine pad. Activity near the
nest was minimized and other work was prioritized until the birds fledged the nest. There
were five healthy babies all-in-all. Most of the barn swallows inhabiting the area are nesting in
the rock outcrops up high on the ridges. Plentiful mosquitos and other flying insects will insure
that the barn swallows return to nest in subsequent years.
i
n
S
s N
e
w
wy
f
uv
r
r
 ry
itp r* r
Photo 23—Five baby barn swallows in a nest at the Lower Pump Station cinder block MCC structure.
