Skies were partly cloudy, and temperatures reached the mid 80◦F. Recent hot
weather had left the roads and facilities area dried out as compared to the previous month.
No active grading or leveling operations were observed taking place at the King I refuse pile. The haul and
access roads up to the refuse pile appeared recently graded. The ditch along outcrop (reach 10) had been
graded over and needs to be reestablished (photo 14 and maintenance item A). The culvert at Reach 10
under the access road to the King I refuse pile had been armored with large blocks of sandstone, (photo 13A
and B).
Soil and coal stockpiles were observed (King II topsoil stockpiles #1 and #2); (King I at fan bench and at the
eastern end of refuse pile). The appropriate seed mix for soil pile stabilization had been obtained and was
awaiting weather conducive for planting. Please monitor and erradicate weeds as necessary, especially on
topsoil piles, maintenance item B.

Haul trucks were awaiting loading and being loaded at King II. Pillorying was occuring in area 2S and
development in area 4L. GCC is in process of adding new septic system components. The septic absorption
field had undergone recent maintenance and surface leveling.
Water monitoring protocol was discussed and all water monitoring sites inspected. Culverts were inspected
and additional drainage mechanism were observed at King II culverts C15 and C17. Please explain the
necessity for these additions in an e-mail and update the associated King II map 007A.

MAINTENANCE ITEMS from PREVIOUS INSPECTIONs

1. Areas requiring stabilization with relevant seed mix include:
i. Soil stockpile at the fan bench
ii. West face of the King I refuse pile
