Geologist Responsibilities
• Field Geologist will be primarily responsible for collecting and reporting all geological and
hydrological data at the drill site.
• Field Geologist will coordinate and review the recommended drill pad set-up with the company man
and drilling company. Items to consider with respect to the drill -pad setup include the locations of the
rig, support trailer and generator, sample collection areas, mud pit location and size, efficient work
flow, and procedures for collecting samples.
• Field Geologist will coordinate with company man, drilling company representatives, and other
personnel to acquire the drilling, geological, and other data as requested and coordinated by Jerry
Daub.
• Field Geologist will assist in the set-up and installation of field facilities and equipment, such as the
work trailer and sample -collection areas.
• Additional Field Geologist Responsibilities
• All data will be recorded and handwritten into the appropriate Daub Acquisition Notebook (DAN)
form.
• Daub Daily Drilling Log (Bible): scan to a PDF file, transfer to a jump drive, and email to the Daub
office at the end of each shift. The work trailer will be equipped with a scanner/copier.
• Word version DDR Summary for Jerry; enter electronically, upload to DropBox, and email to
office.
• Vitals: complete as well is drilled. Most of the data can be found in the Prognosis and confirmed
by the drillers or tool pushers. READ THE PROGNOSIS.
• NPT: complete and document in as much detail as possible. NS requires detailed information for
cost tracking.
• The Vitals data will be entered electronically at the office. All other field data (including the Daub
Daily Drilling Logs) can be transferred into electronic format in the field during down times.
• Field tickets associated with specific holes (cement reports, Jet West logs, Driller DDRs) will be
kept in the Data Acquisition Notebook (DAN). Please make sure that the well name/number is
written on all tickets.
• Field Geologist will keep track of daily water usage.
• Field Geologist will be responsible for following the drilling prognosis, recommending that drilling
operations stop when deviations from the geological prognosis are recognized or when safety is
being compromised, and contacting the drilling geological field coordinator, Jerry Daub and company
man for recommendations.
• Field Geologist must make sure that protective covers are on any sections of electrical cable that are
exposed to vehicular traffic, especially the cable that runs from the main generator to the geologists'
trailer. This trailer must be electrically grounded.
• Track and record all drop tickets, charges and related information in daily spread sheet, including
cost tracking.
• Field Geologist will verify stratigraphic tops from RDC samples and logs to prognosis tops and
correlate stratigraphic and lithologic information from the drill hole to data from nearby wells to
determine the stratigraphic position of both the well being drilled and any future wells to be drilled.
Daub & Associates, Inc.
