June 20, 2016 C-1992-081/Hayden Gulch Loadout JHB
need submit a revision to change the post -mining land use and reclamation plan for the haul road.
The rail loop remains in place. HGT needs to implement the reclamation plan for the rail loop.
REVEGETATION — Rule 4.15
Vegetative Cover; Timing:
Vegetation has become well established on the reclaimed office and parking area. Species noted in the
reclaimed office area include Smooth brome, Orchardgrass, alfalfa, Lewis flax, rocky mountain penstemon,
yarrow, western wheatgrass, yellow sweetclover are the species most prevalent. Few noxious species were
observed.
The reclaimed facilities and coal stockpile areas have filled in well with the permanent seed mix. Previous
interseeding has resulted in a healthy diverse perennial community. Species noted in the reclaimed area include,
but are not limited to; western wheatgrass, alfalfa, smooth brome, slender wheatgrass, cheatgrass, green
needlegrass, rabbitbrush, sagebrush, Lewis flax, yarrow, nodding onion, crested wheatgrass, scarlet globe mallow,
and occasional houndstongue.
Previously observed whitetop patches were not observed. This may indicate that previous weed control efforts
have been effective. Occasional wooly mullein seed stalks were noted in the rail line west of where the coal
loading chute once stood. This area also had a small patch of whitetop near the stack of old rail road ties. A small
patch of Canada thistle and several Scotch thistle plants were noted just east of the whitetop patch. HGT should
continue weed management efforts.
Noxious weeds were not observed on TS -2 topsoil stockpile footprint, or on TS -1 topsoil stockpile footprint. TS -3
was not observed.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED NA
OTHER (SPECIFY) NA
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 8
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4
Page 3 of 4
