2 Revise the map to show the locations of all proposed prospecting sites or activity areas
involving surface disturbance. Activity areas include all drill holes, mud pits, excavations,
trenches, adits, tunnels, rock dumps, stockpiles and prospecting roads.
Response:
The map has been re-labeled to read "Prospecting Area" as the entire area shown is anticipated to be
prospected. Potential areas that will have a trench or drill pad are shown on the map as circles (latitude
and longitude locations provided above). Since the prospecting budget will be tight, it is anticipated that
only seven of the total number of areas shown will be trenched. Trenching will only occur if sufficient
sign of mineral is found to justify the expense. If the trenches produce positive leads, then as many as
four drill pads might be set, each with a mud pit. Note that the number of trenches, drill pads and mud
pits has been increased from the original application. The mud pits will be set inside the drill pads.
At this time, there are no known locations that require construction of new roads for access. However,
it would be short sighted not to consider that a small stretch of road might be needed and the omission
of a necessary road in the permit would spell disaster to this season's exploration program if not
included, as the prospector might need to wait past the exploration season to get a modification to the
permit.
The application makes no reference to constructing adits, tunnels, rock dumps or stockpiles, so none of
these features are shown on a map.
3 The Applicant did not specify the proposed date of completion. The Division requires
this information to be provided in the NOI Application.
Response:
As stated in the DRMS regulations 1.1(43), prospection is the "act of searching . . ." thus, if the
prospector is lucky enough to find minerals on the 300 acres, it is unknown how long the search will
take, or how long it will take to obtain permits. In order to satisfy the demand, we will chose the date
1/1/2030. However, in actuality, if mineral is discovered, the permit might be in place for a significantly
longer period, and alternatively, if no mineral is found, it will be terminated at a much earlier date.
4 Specify the volume of material to be moved in cubic yards and provide a breakdown of
the volume of material to be extracted or moved for each of the proposed prospecting activities,
i.e., cuts, pits, trenches, sampling of dumps.
Response:
Once again, the application makes no reference to constructing adits, tunnels, rock dumps or stockpiles.
One thousand tons equates to about 700 cubic yards.
2
