Mr. Knudson
Page 12
May 16, 2016
5. The Applicant is proposing to construct two drill pads and is only proposing to construct one
mud pit. Please explain why more than one mud pit is not required.
6. The Applicant has indicated the closing of abandoned mine working may occur. If mine
working will be accessed, then the Applicant must provide the Division with a detailed list of
the mine working to be accessed. The list shall specify the type of mine feature that is being
accessed (shaft, adit), the approximate dimensions of openings, and the type of existing
closure, if applicable. If the mine workings contain closures installed by the Division's
Inactive Mine Program, then please provide the Division with the Brasscap Project ID
Number, if available. Please note, the Division will bond for the cost of replacing any
permanent closures which must be removed to access the mine workings.
7. The Division encourages the Applicant to photograph all of the proposed prospecting sites,
both before and after the proposed prospecting project. Upon completion of reclamation and
request for bond release, the Division may consider the photographs as evidence of adequate
reclamation.
8. Please explain how mine entries, trenches and excavations will be safeguarded from
unauthorized entry.
9. The Applicant has stated groundwater will not be intercepted at the intended exploration
depths. The proposed depth of the drill holes is 300 feet below the ground surface. Please
specify the depth to groundwater in the vicinity of the drilling locations and provide any
available documentation to demonstrate the static groundwater level is below the anticipated
depth of the drill holes.
10. Please provide a description of how any cuts, pits and trenches will be reclaimed.
11. The Applicant stated the reclaimed areas would be seeded with a seed mix specified by the
Jefferson Soil Conservation District, a private seed company, or by an engineer. Please
clarify if the reclaimed areas will be seeded with the seed mix provided in the NOI
Application or if the intent is to submit a different seed mix at a later time.
12. The seed mix in the NOI Application only contains one native species. Pursuant to C.R.S.
34-32-116(7)(e), the Division places an emphasis on using native species for reclamation.
The Division request the Applicant revise the seed mix to include several more native
species. The proposed seeding rate is appropriate and does not need to be revised.
13. The Applicant has stated the reclaimed areas will be reseeded using either broadcast or
drilling methods. For the purpose of calculating the required financial warranty, please
identify which reseeding method will be used. If both methods will be utilized, then provide
an estimate of the total surface area associated with each method.
