Skies were clear, and temperatures reached the low 50 degrees F. Recent rains
had left the facilities area muddy with the ground saturated in some areas.
Grading and leveling operations were taking place at the King I refuse pile. Culvert at Reach 10 across the
access road to the King I refuse pile was in the process of being armored with large blocks of sandstone.
The Haul and acess roads at King II were being graded.
Soil and coal stockpiles were observed (King II topsoil stockpiles #1 and #2); (King I at fan bench and at
the eastern end of refuse pile). There was discussion of the appropriate seed mix for soil pile stabilization,
as well as replacing buried culverts at King I with open ditches. Maintenance and reclamation of ditches
would be more efficient and cost effective than that of the current culvert system.
Haul trucks were being loaded at King II. Coal stockpiles were reduced due to recent decrease in
production as mining equipment was moved to other areas, thus idling the operation for a period of time.
Currently mining was occurring in the at 2 East Mains.
GCC would like to add new components to their existing septic system. The septic absorption field had
undergone recent maintenance.

MAINTENANCE ITEMS from PREVIOUS INSPECTIONS
April 2016:
1. Soil stockpile marker was placed on the stockpile near the King I fan bench. This item is resolved,
(photo 14).
