' -, .. r.far.- .- .2 ... `?i..�'9"•LK ..psi—.. ., <br /> EXISTING VEGETATION AND SOILS <br /> CORTEZ PIT - NIELSONS <br /> This pit site lies above McElmo Creek just southwest of Cortez, Colorado. <br /> Conditions are dry most of the year with no existing irrigation. <br /> Existing vegetation is spotty with pinon and juniper trees mixed with <br /> sagebrush and grasses. It provides no commercial feed and it's benifit <br /> to wildlife is minimal. <br /> Topsoil covers approximately 50% of the pit site and is sandy and stony <br /> loam in consistancy. Depth to sandstone bedrock is about one foot.
