DNR COLORADO
413
CODivision of Reclamation,
..' Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
May 5, 2016
David McHugh
5653 FM256 West
Colmesneil, TX 75938
RE: Puma City Mine; DRMS File No. P-2016-005; Notice of Deficiencies
Dear Mr. McHugh,
On March 25, 2016, the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety(Division)received the
Notice of Intent to Conduct Prospecting (NOI) Application for the Detroit City Mine, File No. P-
2016-005. The Application was filed for review on April 7, 2016. Our review indicates the
Application contains deficiencies as defined by Rule 5.1.3 of the Mineral Rules and Regulations
of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Hard Rock, Metal, and Designated Mining
Operations. The Division requires the information described below before we can approve the
NOI Application.
1. Please confirm that site access will be on a US Forest(USFS) Service system road which has
been inventoried and maintained. Roads which have not been inventoried or maintained by
the USFS may be required to be fully reclaimed.
2. The Applicant has stated the proposed surface disturbance will occur on an existing tailings
pile. Tailings are defined as a part of the waste stream generated from the milling process and
typically they resemble a finely ground sand-like material. The pictures of the site which
were submitted with the application seem to resemble waste/development rock. Please clarify
if the material is from mine development or the result of milling.
3. The Applicant has stated a trench will be excavated to access the mine adit. The Division
records indicate that the mine feature present at this site is an inclined shaft, which was
completely backfilled. The dimensions of the inclined shaft were 5' x 9' 30'(depth). The
Division records also indicate the inclined shaft was fully backfilled with approximately 50
cubic yards of material. In order to access the entire shaft, the Applicant will need to
excavate 50 cubic yards of material. Please indicate if the entire volume of backfilled
material will be excavated. If the entire volume of backfilled material will not be excavated,
then specify the total volume of material (in cubic yards) which will be moved.
(iSiTcozo
vi Vic.;- o
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http://mining.state.co.us '* 4 kg >?
John W.
