Schedule for Pltase I
Estimated start date - April 1998
Estimated end date - October 2003, (period of flagstone mining depends on demand)
Reclamation - April 2004, (following completion of flagstone mining)
Phases II and III are also scheduled for consecutive 5 year operation plans depending on demand.
Major mining components - Phase 1:
1. Existing access road up the east side of the liogback to be improved (approximately 1 3/4
miles). Improvements will consist of regrading and adding 12-inch-high water bars as
needed. No culverts or other drainage conveyances are planned.
2. The existing staging area of approximately 4.5 acres located about 1.7 miles north of the
originally proposed staging area will be adopted for use. A rock tumbler will be set up at
this location and the area will be used for interim storage of pelletized rock.
4. There wilt be no buildings erected on the site, as the existing ranch house and
outbuildings will be used to support the operations. If needed, portable structures will be
used to support the operations.
5. There will be no pits, shop/maintenance buildings, plants, or openings for mining.
Mining will consist of removal of loose rock from existing rock slides. A rock cutter
may be used to cut rocks to specific sizes and shapes. A rock tumbler will be used to
produce pavers from waste rock.
6. The locations and dimensions of the anticipated soil and waste-rock stockpiles are shown
on Exhibit E.
7. Approximately five truck loads of rock per day (10 - 20 tons) will be removed from the
mine site and hauled to the staging area. Rock will be shipped via semi-truck from the
staging area to place of sale on an as needed basis (1-2 trucks per week). Thus, there will
be minimal impacts from increased traffic oil County Road 13.
The only water needed for the proposed operation will be that required for dust suppression on
the road and at the staging area and for tumbler operation. This water will be obtained from the
14
