The Seneca II West Mine is a recalimed
surface mine. Portions of the mine area have previously been approved for phased bond release. No mining
activity aside from monitoring and maintenance occurs regularly on the mine area. No mine personnel remain on
the site. Seneca Property LLC personnel are located at the Foidel Creek Mine office on Routt County Road No.
27. The inspector checks in with Jerry Nettleton, or Brian Watterson at Foidel Creek Mine to let the operators
know that the inspector will be on the property, and to allow Seneca Property personnel to accompany the
inspector if they choose. No Seneca Property personnel accompanied the inspector on the site for this inspection.
The weather was cloudy and wind with changing conditions, partly sunny, followed by rain/snow squalls. Roads
were damp, turning muddy at the higher elevatons where the snow remains on the road. The snow pack had
melted to 4-6 inches with deeper drifts in areas.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1,4.05.2,4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7,4.05.10;
Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Impoundments 4.05.6,4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
Pond 006 was discharging . Effluent was clear. Muddy conditions precluded sliding down the slope to
the flume. The flume appeared in good condition with no obvious side cutting or sediment in the flume. The
slump to the south of Pond 006 was not affecting Pond 006.
Drainages 006-5E-1, 006-Gulch and 006-NE1 were flowing heartily with no signs of pooling or short cutting.
Drainages appeared to be functioning as designed.
Pond 005 was discharging. Effluent was clear. The new flume appears to be functioning well, with no side
cutting around the flume. Sediment has settled into the inlet of the flume and some in the throat of the flume.
This sediment needs to be cleaned out. Flow measured 1.4 on the staff gauge in the flume.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 7
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 2 of 9
