Resolved Items
1. The plan provides very few specifics or justifications relevant to the King II mine.
Please provide a site specific plan.
GCCE Dec. 2015: A comprehensive plan addressing the chemistry of coal mine waste generated
from the King I and King II mines, and stored in the Refuse Pile located at the King I mine, has
been attached to be included as King II Appendix 4(8). Pages King I 2.04.6 page 4 and King II
2.04.6 page 7 have been modified to direct the reader to the material in Appendix 4(8).
2. Copper and Cadmium, listed in Table 3 of the DBMS guidance document are not listed in the
proposed chemical parameters and Methods of Analysis table provided by GCC. The Table
provided by GCC is a copy of Table 5 in the DRMS guidance document, which is "Overburden
Geochemistry — Suggested Methods of Analysis". Table 3 of the guidance document lists the
Suggested Chemical Parameters. No rational for leaving Cadmium and Copper off the list of
proposed analytes to be monitored was provided.
Please either provide a rationale for not monitoring these analytes or include them on the parameters to
be monitored.
GCCE Dec. 2015: Cadmium and Copper have been added to the list of proposed analytes to be
monitored.
Resolved as per Cadmium and Copper.
The following items remain unresolved pending receipt of final leachate analysis and monitoring
plan form GCC Energy.
DRMS April. 2016 (new): Additional analytes may be recommended by DRMS as other research and
data are analyzed.
3. No discussion or rational was provided as to the selected number or location of samples.
Please discuss:
i. how many samples will be taken
GCCE Dec. 2015: King I: Samples will be collected from three drill holes located as shown on
Appendix 4(8) Map 1 and Map 1A, Detail. Map 1 represents a survey performed in January,
2006 at a time when the refuse pile consisted only of King I refuse material. The cross-sections on
the left portion show the holes to be drilled and the existing surface and refuse pile/pre-refuse pile
interface.
King II: As shown on Appendix 4(8) Map 2, four additional samples will be collected from existing
drill cores or from within the current workings of the King II mine.
ii. samplingfrequency
GCCE Dec. 2015: King I drill hole locations are spaced at approximately one-third intervals across
the refuse pile.
King II sample locations are spaced at approximately one hole per square mile as per CDRMS
guidance document "Guidelines for the Collection of Baseline Water Quality and Overburden
Geochemistry Data".
Prepared by: R.
