DNR COLORADO
CO Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
April 19, 2016
Mike Jones
Teton Drilling, Inc.
P.O. Box 550
Henderson, CO 80640
RE: Dixie Mine; DRMS File No. M-2015-028; Adequacy Review No. 4
Dear Mr. Jones,
The Division has identified several other comments and questions that must be addressed prior to
the Division's decision due date. Please be advised that if you are unable to satisfactorily
address any concerns identified in this review before the decision date, it will be your
responsibility to request an extension of the review period. If there are outstanding issues
that have not been adequately addressed prior to the end of the review period, and no
extension has been requested, the Division will deny this application.
1. The Applicant has revised the Mining Plan and will no longer set up a mobile mill on site.
The Applicant has stated the ore will be taken to the Federal Mill for processing. Therefore,
the Division will not bond for reclamation of disturbance associated with the mobile mill site.
Prior to setting up a mobile mill facility in the future, the Applicant must receive Division
approval through either a Technical Revision or an Amendment. In addition, the financial
warranty will be adjusted to account for any disturbance associated with the mobile mill.
2. As noted above, the Applicant has revised the Mining Plan to account for off-site processing
of the ore. Under the revised plan, the Applicant will no longer backfill the trench with
tailings. Therefore, the Mining Plan and Reclamation Plan must be revised to reflect this
change. Please answer the following questions:
a. The Applicant has proposed maximum trench dimensions of 30' (length) x 10'
(width) x 25' (depth). If the Operator is removing all of the material from the site,
what will the maximum dimensions of the trench be? Please note that this will have a
direct effect on the financial warranty calculation.
b. The Applicant has stated there is no need for metal holding structures to hold waste
rock or ore when material is being processed at the Federal Mill. Please explain why
the waste rock or overburden will be removed from the site?
OF'CO<
w_ - +• O.Q .
FQ 'iso
:w''•<!,901
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http://mining.state.co.us I
John W.Hickenlooper, Governor I Mike King, Executive Director I Virginia Brannon, Director X876
