April 13,2016
Subject: Resident opposition to the Hitch Ranch Quarry Project(application M-2016-10)
Dear Ms.Eschberger, 4. 11„ C h 50ki
My name is Brian Gardiner and my wife, Betty, and I live at 2010 Roca Roja Circle,Colorado Springs,CO,
80926 in the Red Rock Valley subdivision. My telephone number is 719 337 9088.
We have lived in Red Rock Valley since 1992 and I have been a firefighter on the Highway 115 Volunteer
Fire Department for nearly twenty years. One of our duties in the Fire Department is to respond to
traffic accidents and I have been witness to many serious and fatal accidents on the highway during my
years of service.
I have serious safety concerns about increasing the already heavy truck traffic on the highway. As you
know, there are already several quarries to the south of us and there is a never ending stream of gravel
trucks on the road. In addition to the safety aspect, noise pollution coming from the trucks has already
seriously deteriorated our quality of life.
I won't go into all of the other negative impacts to us that would occur if a large quarry is allowed in
close proximity to a residential neighborhood. These would include noise, dust, water quality,
diminished property values,etc.,etc. I'm sure my neighbors will all give you an earful. There is
universal opposition to the project with the residents along the highway.
Thank you,
; 9
Brian Gardiner
f/
Betty Gardiner
