• The site is in compliance with its associated regulations and is
currently in a state of cessation.
• DRMS'Temporary Cessation is up for review/renewal in October
2016. In order for the cessation to be extended for another 5 years,
the operator will have to remove material from the site. This will
require obtaining a contract with BLM prior to the removal of
material.
• The quarry does not have overburden, and there is no stockpiled
topsoil because they are quarrying directly into bedrock(an
outcrop of the Pike's Peak Granite).
• Other nearby historic quarries (also located on the privately owned
ranch) used the granite for headstones, which were carved in
OTHER OBSERVATIONS/NOTES Woodland Park.
• During the inspection, the operator and the DRMS representative
inquired about the final reclamation of the site's access road. The
reclamation plan on file with BLM states: "The road from the top of
the hill above the quarry down to the Guffey Road will be cleared
of all culverts after mining and will then be scarified and planted
with the prescribed seed mix less the shrub seed. Water bars on
existing roads will be upgraded and seeded meeting BLM
specifications."
PHOTOS
' - x z
Photo 1:The DRMS sign posted
I
along the quarry's access road.
