DETAILED SITE INSPECTION OBSERVATIONS
The operator does not have any active contracts with BLM for this site. In
order for DRMS to extend the temporary cessation for another 5 years, the
GENERAL COMPLIANCE operator must remove material before the end date of their current
cessation (October 2016). All other aspects of the site are in compliance
with the mining and reclamation plan on file with BLM.
The site is a developed quarry with benches, a highwall, and a working
SITE DEVELOPMENT floor. No developments have taken place since the quarry was last active in
2010.
Q
The mine is currently in temporary cessation via CDRMS (approved January
z OPERATIONAL PHASE 13, 2012). The last activity reported was October of 2010.
a
J
zDue to its inactivity, vegetation has naturally grown over much of the site.
0 RECLAMATION STATUS The only weed species observed during the inspection was the Common
Q (TOPSOIL,ROADS,ETC.) Mullein, which is a List B pioneer species.
Q
J
,w The site's overall basin-shaped topography prevents any sedimentation
from being swept offsite. The only erosion observed during the inspection
06 LU EROSION/SEDIMENTATION was along the site's access road near the lower quarry floor.
z_
No explosives are stored on site. When they are operational, the blasting is
EXPLOSIVES done by Aaron Tezak. They use Unigel and Anfo when they are doing a
shot.
The highwalls are not marked, however access is across private land with a
SAFETY locked gate. The mine is also not in operation. Therefore, this does not
appear to pose a threat to safety.
There do not appear to be any engineering or geologic stability issues
ENGINEERING/GEOLOGIC&STABILITY currently at this site. Most of the loose material on, or near, the quarry
CONDITIONS highwall has been revegetated.
OTHER LOCAL/STATE/ FEDERAL REQ. & The DRMS sign was posted. There does not seem to be any compliance
COMPLIANCE issues with other state and federal requirements at this time.
