5 (FORM 2 -Public filing)
G. Total project area to be disturbed 1.00 (acres)
K. Describe the equipment to be used for the prospecting operations:
Initial evaluation-diesel electric generator;electric mine fan;ventilation fan bag, hand tools as required;diesel or electric
powered rock drill;chipping hammer;air tugger if necessary for ground control work. Tractor mounted backhoe or self propelled
excavator, front end loader, and durrrp truck will be utilized-to clean the existing sedimentation pond and bury and cover the
contents of the sedimentation basin;A small dozer may also be used for site clean-up and maintenance of Storm water
management facilities. a truck will be used for hauling materials. Possible grouting program-grouting equipment as necessary.
Underground locomotive, overshot loader and appropriate mine cars as necessary to complete underground safety work and/or
grouting program.
L. Describe and locate any structures to be constructed(i.e.stockpiles,ponds,impoundments):
No new ponds or impoundments are planned at this time. Existing buildings will be
repaired for this project; a small building may be constructed to house a secondary filter
plant to collect carry-over fine sediment from the sedimentation pond.
M. Describe anticipated relationship to surface water and groundwater(proximity to streams, penetration of ground
water aquifers):
Project is intended to investigate potential reduction of existing groundwater inflows in to the Silver Wing mine. Existing
portal discharge is located-approximately 100 feet above and 300 feet I for izor itally from the Ar in nab Rives.TI le existing
portal discharge varies from 15 to 20 gpm and is routed around the mine dump prior to entering the river. Recent water
quality data is enclosed from ten(10)sets of samples taken between June 29,2011 and September 28,2013. Each
sample set consists of samples taken from the Animas River.both upstream(SW-1)and downstream(SW-3)of the existing
mine features;and,from the portal discharge(SW-2).
IV. OPERATION AND RECLAMATION MEASURES:
1. The Board suggests that a photographic record of the pre-prospecting and post-prospecting conditions be kept by the
prospector. These photos should be taken from the same location and by the same method to clearly show the pre-prospecting
condition of the land and the reclamation efforts. Upon completion of reclamation and request for bond or surety release, the
Board may consider the photos as evidence of adequate reclamation, and thus, be able to act more quickly on the request for
release.
2. Provide a description of the native vegetation of the area to be disturbed, including tree, shrub, and grass communities of the
area. Color photographs, sufficient to adequately represent the ecology of the site and adequately labeled (including date,
orientation and location),may be used in lieu of a written description. Based on the quality of the photographs, the Division
may require additional detail.
Ref #1: See attached photographs and descriptions of the pre-prospecting conditions.
No disturbance of existing vegetation is planned. Planned location for burial of settling
pond sludge is in an abandoned site roadway next to settling pond.
