The access road will be widened in some areas. This widening will be 100% cut into the bedrock.
Since this road work is not being removed at the end of prospecting, it does not need to be bonded
for.
5. The Applicant has indicated the improved road will not be reclaimed. The road may remain in
the improved state if the Applicant provides the Division with a signed and notarized letter from
the landowner which authorizes the access road to remain. Otherwise, the Applicant must
describe how the access road will be reclaimed.
See the attached authorization letter.
6. The Applicant has stated that waste rock from the development of the portal will be crushed and
used by Park County or the Town of Alma. This activity is considered to be mining as defined by
the Hard Rock, Metal and Designated Mining Operation Rules. The Applicant may remove this
portion of the plan from consideration, or the Applicant may withdraw the NOI application and
submit a Reclamation Permit for a mining operation. Please respond.
No waste rock will be used by Park County or another third part offsite.
7. Please specify if the estimate of the amount of material to be moved is in cubic yards or tons
(the Division is aware of the limitation when entering this information on the fillable forms).
The material volume is in cubic yards.
8. The Applicant has stated that fuel will be stored in a steel container. Please speck the volume
of fuel to be stored and confirm that the secondary containment can hold 110%of the volume of
fuel to be stored onsite.
110 gallons of fuel will be stored on site in 55 gallon barrels contained within a secondary
containment with 110% of the volume of the largest barrel.
9. Describe the sampling techniques which will be used to determine if there is a viable
rhodochrosite deposit within the mine. Are sampling techniques based on visual observation?
The Applicant should be aware that removal of rhodochrosite from the mine may not be done
under an NOI. If the Applicant discovers a deposit of rhodochrosite and wishes to remove the
mineral specimen(s), it will require the submittal and approval of a Reclamation Permit. Please
respond.
The principal goal of this NOI is to investigate the geology 400' inside the mountain for the
potential of mineral specimens. No specimens will be removed without an approved Reclamation
Permit.
10. Please provide a detailed description of the existing portal. Has the portal been backfilled? If
so, specify the approximate volume of the backfill material. What are the dimensions of the
existing portal? The Applicant may submit photographs to illustrate the existing conditions at
the site.
There is no portal currently in place
