The weather was clear and warm. The ground was mostly dry. Vince Massarotti was present for a portion
of the field inspection. Ron Thompson helped with the records check.
EXCESS SPOIL and DEVELOPMENT WASTE—Rule 4.09
Placement; Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization:
No erosion was seen on the face of the RDA reclamation, except for small rills: one near the interface with the un-
reclaimed area and one near the middle of the fill.
The overall shape of the DWDA2 looks good. As is normally the case,there are rills on the sides. The sump
below it needs to be cleaned of sediment. Per Ron Thompson,reclamation of this structure has been delayed due
to the uncertainty of the future of the New Elk Mine.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1,4.05.2,4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7,4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage—Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8;Impoundments 4.05.6,4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
Ponds 001A, 006A, 007A, and 08 were all holding water but not discharging.No problems were seen with
spillways or embankments. Other observations with these ponds:
New flow meters have been installed(per CDPHE requirements)on the primary spillways of Ponds 007A
and 08. Hydromulch has been sprayed on the embankments where pipe/meter installation activities created
disturbance.
There was too much water in the ponds to assess the sediment levels.
No inflow to Pond 006A was seen.
The ditch below Pond 08 (which is not labeled on the map)was found to be stable.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 7
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 2 of 12
