March 14, 2016 C-1992-081/Hayden Gulch Loadout JHB
The truck loop pond was holding a frozen pool of water approximately 3 feet below the discharge elevation. The
ice was beginning to thaw, and snow was melting at the time of the inspection. There was no evidence that the
truck loop pond had discharged recently.
ROADS—Rule 4.03
Drainage 4.031(4)/4.03.2(4)
Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and(6)/4.03.2(5)and(6)
The TAHR was dry and had been plowed. Previous run off from the road was draining adequately as
noted by the lack of ponding or puddled areas on the road or signs of flow across the road.
Road side ditches were flowing with snowmelt with limited pooling in low and flat areas. (photo 2)
Culverts under the road were free flowing and handling snowmelt flows. HGT will need to keep an eye on the
culvert at the road to the gravel pit. Ice appears to be creating dams. The run off was making its way into the
ditch, but ice build-up may impede this flow if freeze/thaw cycles continue. HGTI would just need to break up the
ice obstruction to allow flow to get to the ditches.
Dry creek was flowing freely through the associated culverts. No problems were noted with Dry Creek flow in the
permit area.
Culverts under the Rail line were clear and free flowing.
SIGNS AND MARKERS—Rule 4.02:
Mine ID signs were observed. Most of the signs have been updated to reflect the current phone number
for contact personnel. The Mine ID sign at the Rail crossing on the north side of State Highway 40 requires an
update to the phone number. The rest of the signs are in compliance with the appropriate information.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED NA
OTHER(SPECIFY)NA
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 6
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 3 of 6
