New Horizon North Mine
2. Topsoil
During 2015, 19 acres were topsoiled. Please see Table 1 for topsoil moved
during the report year and Table 2 for overall topsoil stockpile balance for the
mine. Additionally, please see Map 3 which denotes the locations topsoiled
during the report year.
3. Seeding
NHN permanently seeded or planted 0 acres in 2015. Through the end of the year
2015, 0 acres have been reclaimed at NHN. A total of 0 seeded acres have been in
existence for greater than 10 years with 0 acres being in existence for 10 years or
less.
See Section 2.05.4(2)(e) of the Currently Approved Permit for seed mix information.
4. Soil Fertility Testing and Fertilizer Application
No fertilizing was completed because no permanent seeding has occurring on site;
therefore, no Soil Fertility Testing occurred in 2015.
F. WILDLIFE MONITORING
During 2015, topsoil and mining operations were within the 300 yard buffer zone of
active prairie dog colonies. Therefore, to mitigate potential disturbance to possible
burrowing owls, a certified biologist was hired to perform a study to determine whether
any burrowing owls were in the area and using the colonies for nesting. Map 4 shows the
location of the prairie dog colonies where the mitigation work occurred. The report
generated by the consulting biologist can be found in Attachment 3.
G. INTERIM REVEGETATION REPORT
Interim vegetation monitoring did not occur at NHN in 2015. Future Interim Vegetation
Reports will be included as an attachment.
2015 Annual Reclamation Report Page 2
