Mr. Gardner
February 17, 2016
Page 12
3. The Division noted an unidentified closure in the inspection conducted on April 30, 2015.
The Applicant has identified this closure as Closure#3 in the Application form. The
description of this closure states that it was constructed in conformance with the Bureau of
Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives specifications for a Type 4 explosive magazine.
Please specify if the Operator is storing explosives within Closure#3. If so, provide a
complete inventory of all explosive materials stored onsite. Also, provide the Division with
copies of all permits which are required to store explosives.
4. The Applicant has identified four additional portals and two shafts which will be utilized for
prospecting activities. In addition, the Applicant has provided descriptions of the existing
closures for each of the portals and shafts. The Applicant shall demonstrate the portals and
shafts have closures as described in the application by submitting detailed pictures of each of
the closures and/or DRMS Brasscap Id numbers. This information is required so that the
Division may include the cost of replacing closures in the financial warranty calculation. If
the Applicant can demonstrate that the mine working can be accessed through the identified
portals and shafts without removing a closure (i.e. through a locked door in the closure), then
the Division will not have to bond for the cost of replacement.
5. The Applicant has stated under Section III, Item No. 6 that the existing mine features will be
reopened. The Applicant then states six portals and four shafts are known to exist. This
statement appears to contradict the information provided under Section IV, Item No. 5 which
states there are six portals and two shafts. In addition, the Badger Mine Project Maps only
depict two shafts. Please clarify the total number of shafts present at the site and specify how
many of those the Applicant is proposing to access.
6. The Applicant has stated that prospecting may include advancement of drifts and/or
raises/winzes from existing underground workings subject to the total amount of material to
be extracted. The Division approved the Operator to remove a total of 250 cubic yards of
material. Please specify the total volume of material which has been removed from the mine
to date.
7. The Applicant has stated that the detached accessory structure(shed) located on the Rip Van
Dam Lode and the office structure located on the Badger Claim will remain post-prospecting
for the use of the landowner. Please provide a signed and notarized statement from the
landowner which demonstrates the landowner's desire to have these structures remain.
8. The Applicant has stated, in an Adequacy Response letter dated February 4, 2014, that the
mine working would be advanced ten feet to allow the core drill to fit into the drifts. Please
specify if this advancement of the drifts has been completed. In addition, specify if the
Applicant is proposing additional advancements of the mine workings under this
modification application.
