11-10-04 12:06PM FROM-DMG GRAND JUNCTION FIELD OFFICE 970 241 1516 T-358 P.001/004 F-188
RECEIVED V_ BOA
A
NOY 10 20H
Division of Minerals&Geobgy .
August 22,. 1996
TO: MAGGIE VANCLEEF
FROM: PAUL KRABACHER
RE: ;:, SUNBELT MINING/PEACOCK MINE - C81042
LA PLATA COUNTY
As you are aware, portal reclosure work and road reclamation was performed at the Peacock
Mine site`in Hay Gulch within a maintenance project last June. Since that time during an
inspection by the Coal Program, serious erosion has occurred stemming from one particular
rain event. The previous maintenance work was performed by Alpine Mine Construction
who was selected through competitive bidding procedures. The work performed under the
previous Purchase Order (#PKA 9600036) was completed and closed out. Because
competitive bidding has already been performed for the exact same work that will be needed,
I am reccommending that Alpine Mine Construction be selected and directed to perform this
additional regrading and revegemon work through a new Purchase Order. 'Work will consist
of the same hydraulic excavator with a 25' minimum reach with a 30" minimum bucket as
well as revegetation of regraded areas. Initial estimates would require 10 hours of machine
time av the previously bid price of$100/hour including mob/demob- Revegetation would cost
$k000 for the estimated 1 acre of regraded area using Alpine's bid price of$1,000/acre.
Total-esti#Wed cost for this Purchase Order would be $2,000.00.
i
