Drawing 7-9 is included in Appendix B of this
memorandum for reference.
Drawing A314 (provided in Appendix B of this memorandum) from the Issued for
Construction drawing set has also been included for reference. Cross section Z and AA
demonstrate the location of the LVSCF between the primary (100 -mil smooth LLDPE
geomembrane) and secondary (100 -mil single -sided microspike LLDPE geomembrane)
liners. High volume solution storage cannot be included in the filling curve as it is below
the primary liner.
3.0 Revised Filling Curve
Based on the above discussion, the PSSA solution filling curve was revised. The overall
volume of the facility has been revised. A side-by-side comparison of the curves is shown
in the table below:
Description
Design PSSA
Filling Curve
(09/11/2011)
Figure 1
ROC PSSA
Filling Curve
(11/2014)
Figure 2
Corrected
Filling Curve
(01/19/2016)
Figure 3
Bottom Elevation (feet)
9,333.1
9,333.8
9,336.8
Total Volume at 9,450'
(million gallons)
548.1
536.4
522.4
Volume at 9,445' at 35% Ore Porosity
(million gallons)
175.5
170.6
166.2
Volume at 80% Maximum Pregnant.
Solution at 35% (million gallons)
140.5
136.5
132.9
Elevation of 80% Maximum
Pregnant Solution (feet)
9,433.2
9,434.2
9,434.0*
The 2016 Corrected Curve was evaluated at 1 -foot volume intervals rather than 5 -foot intervals providing a higher level
of accuracy as compared to the previous curves.
Table 1 Comparison of Submitted Filling Curves
The corrected filling curve as well as a copy of the design filling curve and the as -built
filling curve from the PSSA ROC have been included in Appendix A.
4.0 Conclusion
As discussed in 7.3 of the Design Report, "the maximum anticipated PSSA storage
volume (including all contingency flows) is approximately 92 million gallons". With the
revised calculated volumes, this accounts for 55 percent of the maximum available PSSA
capacity; accounts for 69 percent of the 80 percent PSSA volume capacity.
Page 2of8
