amec
foster
wheeler
Technical Memorandum
To: Ron Roberts, CC&V Date: January 20, 2016
Ron DiDonato, CC&V
From: Andrea Meduna, PE Amec Foster Project No.: 74201125N0
Wheeler
Re: Solution Filling Curve for the Squaw Gulch Valley Leach Facility PSSA
1.0 Introduction
Amec Foster Wheeler Environment and Infrastructure, Inc. (Amec Foster Wheeler) has
prepared this technical memorandum for the Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining
Company (CC&V) in response to an error Amec Foster Wheeler identified while
performing an exercise at the request of CC&V Operations.
PROBLEM: The PSSA solution filling curve calculations in the design report Cripple
Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company Squaw Gulch Valley Leach Facility Design by
AMEC Earth & Environmental, Inc. (Design Report) dated September 11, 2011 were
calculated from the soil liner fill (SLF) elevations within the PSSA and not the top of the
low volume solution collection fill (LVSCF) which is also the elevation of the primary liner.
When the PSSA Record of Construction report was completed, the same elevations were
used as the design filling curve also providing inaccurate data. Essentially, the solution
storage volume between the primary and secondary geomembrane liners were included
and the elevations used were not correct.
CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: Provided with this memorandum is a revised filling curve
outlining the corrected solution volumes and elevations within the PSSA. This curve is
representative of as -built conditions and will demonstrate that the facility still can
successfully contain the design inflows and contingencies.
2.0 Current Conditions
As outlined on Drawing 7-9 of the Record of Construction drawings in Appendix A of the
Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company Squaw Gulch VLF Pregnant Solution
Storage Area Project Final Report Quality Assurance Monitoring & Testing Results dated
November 2014, by AMEC Environment & Infrastructure, Inc. report (PSSA ROC), the
elevations at the center of the PSSA High Volume Solution Collection riser plates ranges
Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure, Inc.
2000 S.
